Today, I am studying Handstand!!
Mukha: Face or Facing
Asana: Posture or Pose
Literally, “Downward Facing Tree Pose” or more commonly known as Handstand.
This pose is a lot of fun. I have been doing handstands in dance and gymnastics since I was about 10 years old, so it’s nice to connect with my inner 10 year old!
Once students are competent in other inversions (like shoulder stand and head stand), I start by teaching handstand at the wall and learning to kick the legs up first. And then getting the heels to the wall with the help of your teacher.
So, that’s what your yoga teacher is studying today!
