About Bonnie

Vrkasana (Tree Pose) ~ Bonnie Walker, CIYTOver the past 25 years, Bonnie has pursued many interests, both professional and personal, and worn many hats. Bonnie is part academic (Masters Degree in Education), part mom and part yoga nerd (Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher).

Before becoming a yoga teacher, she taught high school math, dance and even snowboarding and has worked with kids and adults. As a Bend mom, Bonnie has volunteered many hours in the Bend-LaPine school system including fundraising, chaperoning, working in after school programs, as well as serving on the Board of Directors for a local charter school.

Bonnie started practicing yoga in 1999 to help relieve neck & shoulder tension from working as web developer and continued to use yoga for its healing benefits through many life stages including prenatal yoga, baby yoga and yoga physical therapy.

She began teaching yoga in 2013 and has been an active Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher since 2016.  Bonnie volunteered for the IYNAUS Ethics Training Committee from November 2018 – April 2019 to consult on online education recommendations and to help build abuse prevention curriculum in the areas of compassionate communication, ethically receiving abuse disclosures and responding to students who may become triggered in the yoga class environment. Bonnie continues to advocate for trauma-informed changed in the Iyengar method by volunteering on the IYNAUS Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee.

As a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, Bonnie is dedicated to making sure her students gain the understanding and competency in their poses, and the practice necessary, to prevent injury and allow for enjoyment and healthy progress. And her smile and laughter are contagious!
